WHO WE WORK WITH
Faculty Affiliates
Faculty Affiliates are faculty, staff, researchers, and clinicians who are working in partnership with the center on collaborative community-engaged research, community impact projects, or community-engaged teaching courses through the REV Center.
Staff and stakeholders from regional communities work closely with EOU faculty and students to provide local knowledge and deeper understanding into the issues, guaranteeing projects are not only innovative, but also suitable to the community.
The Rural Engagement & Vitality Center is building a network of affiliated faculty and researchers to support, connect, and extend the public-facing work in which faculty are engaged. We support teams and networks of faculty, other researchers, students and staff at Eastern Oregon University working together and with external partners to confront the challenges facing our communities.
The benefits to being a Faculty Affiliate include:
-
Connect with faculty conducting community-based research and service-learning with communities. Access colleges, departments, institutes, centers, and programs across Eastern Oregon University.
We are a member of the Educational Partnerships for Innovation in Communities Network (EPIC-N), an international network of more than 60 universities and colleges partnering with localities throughout the United States and world.
EPIC-N members unite the human capital of universities with local governments, and communities, to improve the quality of life and social wealth for all involved.
-
Infuse transformational learning into courses with real-world projects to increase academic achievement and understanding, as well as the practical and complex questions of our world.
-
Connect to the REV Center’s network of communities for research and service-learning projects.
-
Partner with REV and leverage our track record of success and networks when seeking grant and research funding.
-
Collaborate with the REV Center staff that have expertise in relationship building, meeting design, meeting facilitation, and methods to achieve greater community participation.
The REV Center uses the model developed by Educational Partnerships for Innovation in Communities – Network (EPIC-N). This model aims at uniting the human capital of universities with local governments, and communities, to improve the quality of life and social wealth for all involved. EPIC-N is the nonprofit association of institutions that adopt the award-winning EPIC Model for university-community partnership.
-
Utilize staff capacity to translate technical and academic work for a layperson audience.
-
Gain recognition in REV and EOU reports, and other materials.
